Essential Accessories For Your Sony PSP

The Sony PSP is a fun and handy portable entertainment device not only good for playing games, but enjoying music and video as well. But while the PSP is great all on its own, you can make it even better with the addition of some useful accessories. Here are some accessories I consider essential for the serious PSP user. These are only suggestions, of course; feel free to go your own way.

Protection for your PSP is paramount. You do not want to damage such a valuable device. And just because it is portable does not mean you can walk easy with a PSP in your pocket, unless you trust its neoprene slipcover from keeping it unharmed it if it should fall. If you would like sturdier protection, then a carrying case for your PSP is an essential accessory. Then you can take it along with you everywhere without worrying that it could fall and get damaged.

Perhaps the most popular case-type accessory for the PSP is the Logitech Play Gear Pocket, commonly known as the PGP. According to the manufacturer, the PGPs polycarbonate casing is virtually indestructible. Another cool feature of the PGP is that it is skinnable meaning you can customize the look of the case by inserting your designs in place of the standard black lining. You can create the custom design yourself or have someone with the skills make it for you. No doubt this is one reason why this PSP accessory has become very popular as it lets people display their creativity and individuality with custom skins.

Another good safety accessory is the Hori Protective Filter, an anti-scratch screen protector for the PSP. A lot of PSP users have mentioned that they like this accessory because unlike some other screen protectors, the Hori Filter gives you a clear view of the screen with no overt blurriness. It also has anti-glare features, making it easy for you to play your PSP under bright light. And it is very affordable as well.

After getting a protective accessory for your PSP, you should then look into adding a memory expansion device. This could mean a memory stick or a hard drive, though a memory stick tends to be more convenient. Sony and SanDisk both offer PSP memory sticks, with the SanDisks being less expensive overall. The SanDisk memory sticks also seem to run faster than the Sony ones. They are available in sizes of up to 4 GB as of this time. I recommend that you get a SanDisk 4 GB Memory Stick Pro Duo. With a large memory card for your PSP, you can really load up your toy on games, music, and video, turning it into a comprehensive yet portable all-around entertainment system.

Other practical accessories for your PSP would include a good set of headphones and a car charger.

General Motors Chairman and CEO Richard Wagoner (L) and Chrysler CEO Robert Nardelli (C) greet people as they arrive to testify about a proposed government bailout plan for the US auto industry at a hearing of the House Financial Services Committee on Capitol Hill, December 5, 2008. (Jonathan Ernst/Reuters)AP - If the $14 billion bailout plan for U.S. automakers passes, it will help more than just Ford, Chrysler and General Motors. Federal judges would get a pay raise, as well.
