Rundll Errors Explained

Rundll errors are commonly encountered by many computer users. Knowing that the internet is growing at a massive pace on a daily level, and that more than fifty million people are logged in at any moment, many of whom are new entrants to the internet (thanks to the massive infocomm infiltration in developing countries), I shall approach this article in a way that everyone can understand.

Firstly - The Mighty DLL

DLL files are basically system files that are integral to any and all programmes written for the Windows environment. These files are like vast codex's, libraries that contain information, in one's and zero's, keys, codes and data used by programmes for reasons that is specific to its operation.

These DLL's are shared by many programmes, a centralised databank where they can access. Why? Well, if every programme has its own exclusive code and language, they would operate singularly against each other, sharing no information with each other, which would be extremely slow. Windows uses DLL's to run many functions, many programmes, reusing code and instructions within them for speed and efficiency.

For the techie in you, we are concentrating today on the Rundll.exe (16-bit) and Rundll32.exe(32 bit) which are evident in all Windows OS's. These are the tools that Windows use to run functions within shared DLL's - programmes and applications

Rundll Errors - How the Mighty have Fallen

Rundll errors are caused when there is a command line confusion. Basically, this happens when Windows tries to load a dll file that isn't there - unable to locate the dll file a programme is trying to execute. In simple terms, the dll has a set of instructions- which Windows 'listens' to properly launch programmes and application. The problem occurs when there dll file or code within the file is missing, causing an error and possible system crash.

The Causes

Usually, rundll errors are caused by malicious malware and spyware, or even virus files that have infiltrated your computer. These pirate programmes and executables basically take over the files being shared by the rundll applications. Certain viruses change the structure of these shared dll's, transforming code lines or making them totally inaccessible. Trojan attacks insert fake .dll files within the system folder, that then download malicious software that can further corrupt the .dll library.

What happens? Rundll tries to access these files when programmes or applications are launched. The missing code, new conflicting dll instructions or even missing files causes the infamous 'rundll error' message log. It can even lead to total system crashes.

What to do

You can use antivirus and antispyware programmes that can alleviate the situation. They track down all malware and bad software, viruses and delete them from your system.

But that is not effective enough. What about the tracks and damages left behind? A good load of these faults are stored in the Windows Registry.Remember, the registry records everything that happens within the computer. Trojans and malware even, when changing or hijacking dll's, leave their imprints within the registry.

Use a Registry Cleaner

This is the total solution to your problem A good registry cleaner will track down all rundll errors and resolve them automatically. It can identify and highlight the dll errors as well as other errors left behind by malware and viruses, thus speeding up your computer and solving most of your desktop dilemmas.

How to Put 100's of Emulator Games on Your PSP

There are now programs that allow you to play your favorite Nintendo 64, Sega, gb, gbc and other console games on your PSP. Even though you can't insert a Nintendo 64 cartridge on your PSP, there is a software that emulates it which are called emulators. Let us first discuss emulators. An emulator duplicates (provides an emulation of) the functions of one system with a different system, so that the second system behaves like (and appears to be) the first system. This focus on exact reproduction of external behavior is in contrast to simulation, which concerns an abstract model of the system being simulated, often considering internal state. Most emulators just emulate a hardware architecture - if operating system firmware or software is required for the desired software, it must be provided as well (and may itself be emulated). Both the OS and the software will then be interpreted by the emulator, rather than being run by native hardware. Emulators are specialized for a given system to emulate, meaning there are emulators specified for playing Nintendo 64 games on your PSP and another emulator for playing Sega games.

Now that you know what an emulator is, let us now go to the second step, which is the actual installation of the emulator on your PSP. Before we can start the installation process, you'll first need an emulator. There are many different kind of emulators out there in the internet and most are free for download but before you download, make sure to read the specification of the emulator to make sure that your system is compatible with it. (These emulators are home brewed and will mostly run on systems using a 1.5 firmware and may or may not support newer versions.)

Installing an emulator is easy but installation process may vary according to the emulator used. These following steps are based for the Daedalus emulator:

Nintendo 64

* Name: Daedalus

* Speed: Slow, most games run around 10-15 FPS

Basic Install Instructions

1. Open the .zip and extract it.

2. If on 1.5 copy the contents of the 1.5 .zip to PSP/GAME.

3. If on 1.0 of custom firmware copy the contents of the 1.0 .zip to the

PSP/GAME folder.

Roms installation:

Finally Copy ROMs to the ROMS folder in the Daedalus folder, The installation process is most likely the same on other emulators.

Nintendo Wii - Wii for Victory!

Starting with its unconventional name to its innovative controller, the Nintendo Wii comes loaded with every unique feature to make it a stand apart gaming console. The device has been a huge success amongst the gaming fraternity, and such is the furore the makers of the celebrated Xboxs and PSPs fear a run for their money.

Measuring 8.5 inches long by 6 inches wide, and being less than 2 inches thick, the Nintendo Wii comes with sharp, clean contours, with an Apple like glossy white finish. Which means, it not only makes a stylish appearance but also is quite compact. Another appreciated feature of Nintendo Wii is its angled plastic stand. With this, the gaming console can be oriented horizontally or vertically (something that the big player Play station 3 and Xbox 360 fails to deliver).

The Nintendo Wii comes with a set of impressive controls. They are designed to suit both left handed and right handed players. The controls include a Wii Remote and a Nunchuk--a joystick-style controller that connects to the remote for additional game control. The Wii Remote works for games within a radius of about 30 feet and functions as a cursor-type pointing device within about 15 feet. Also, the remote offers a great tactile feedback. The Wii Remote also contains a control for adjusting force feedback, a built-in speaker, a wrist strap, and four blue LED lights that indicate which player/controller number you've been assigned.

Downloading games from the online world is like a breeze, and the user friendly interface makes the experience of Nintendo Wii more pleasurable. A noteworthy feature of this gaming console is its "sleepless" WiiConnect24 service. Through this, the console automatically downloads information, even when it's on standby. Another feature worth a notice is its Virtual console. Here, gamers are allowed to download and play games from past consoles such as the Nintendo 64, NES, Super NES, Sega Genesis, and TurboGrafx16. Nintendo will offer 12 classic console games at launch, including Donkey Kong (NES), SimCity (SNES), Super Mario 64, Sonic the Hedgehog (Genesis), and Bomberman '93 (TurboGrafx16).

Nintendo Wii is a gaming console for the masses. It is easy to understand, easy to use and quite affordable. So, for first time gamers, this console would sure prove an addiction.

PSP Walk Through

PSP walk throughs seem to becoming more and more popular these days. But are you cheating yourself out the game? When I was a kid, my favorite game was Legend of Zelda on the Nintendo. It literally took me months to figure out where to find all the weapons, levels, hearts, etc.

If I were playing the game today, I could simply Google the term "Legend of Zelda Walk through" and I would have all the answers to every question I had about Zelda right there on my computer screen. Is this the way the games were meant to be played? I talk to some people that download a new PSP game and download the PSP walk through and have the whole thing figured out that very same day. Where's the fun in that?

Really I don't care what you do. If that's how you want to play the games, to each his own, right? With the Internet and the PSP download membership sites you can download all the games you want for free. So maybe people don't want to spend weeks or months trying to figure out the complex levels of some these new games. They just want to download the games, download the PSP walk through guides, cruise through the games as fast as they can and then download the next game.

With so many new games coming out and with the games being available for download as soon as they are released, more and more PSP gamers are going this route. For me, I like to enjoy the games and use the PSP walk through as a means of getting past a part of the game I am stuck on and get to the point where it's frustrating.
